Kate founded The Caring Link to eliminate barriers that prevent children from fully participating in school. Through 28 onsite school Care Closets, her nonprofit provides clothing, shoes, hygiene products, and school supplies discreetly to students in need. More than 17,000 students have access to its resources, and the organization distributed over 52,000 essential items during the 2025–26 school year.
